Treasurer (2025-2026)

Robert (Rob) Hickman (He/Him)

Written Statement: “My partner and I moved to Pittsburgh from the central Illinois area in 2021. I have played in the SCSL for four seasons. In my first season, I stepped up to help manage a free agent team, the Dandelions. Ever since, I have found ways to contribute to the league by attending events, working to help develop new players, and sharing ideas. Currently I am the co-captain of the Trash Pandas and my organizational and leadership skills are an asset to the league.

I am running for treasurer in which I have over 20 years of accounting knowledge. Along with my accounting knowledge I have a over 20 years of softball experience and a passion for LGBTQIA+ athletics that I believe makes me a strong candidate for the treasurer for Steel City Softball.”

Treasurer (2025-2026)

Angela Romanello (She/Her)

Nominated-By Statement: “She’s literally the best!!”

Written Statement: “Hello everyone! I’m Angela – many of you know me from my previous role on the board as assistant commissioner for the rec division for the past two years. I first joined SCSL in 2008 and played for many years on the U-Hauls and Missed Connections. I took a break and came back in recent years as a social member and I’m beyond excited to play again next year with the Bottoms of the 9th! Over the years this league has been so many things for so many people, and I think it’s more important than ever to cultivate and fiercely protect queer spaces. This isn’t just a place to play softball; it’s a place to find and create community and belonging.

Over the past two years I’ve worked hard with the other board members to ensure our league runs smoothly and our resources are managed conscientiously. That experience has given me a deeper understanding of how our league functions behind the scenes and how important fiscal awareness is to ensure that our league remains affordable and accessible to everyone. Between organizing opening day and playoff picnics, spring training draft parties, and the Amateur SCSL Drag Pageant, I’ve been able to demonstrate fiscal responsibility in both spending and fundraising for the league. I’m excited for the opportunity to expand that work as treasurer and apply my organizational and communication skills to keep our finances sustainable and aligned with our league values. I also look forward to the league’s continued work in creating and maintaining relationships with community sponsors and supporters.

I’m grateful for this nomination and the opportunity to continue to work with a group that has such a sense of dedication and commitment to this league. It would truly be an honor to serve on the SCSL Board once again.”
