Do I have to be gay to be a part of this league?
Any gay-friendly person is welcome to join.

How old do I have to be to play?
For insurance reasons, you must be at least 18 years old to play in the league.

When is the softball “season”?
The official season begins in April with Spring Training and runs through August. Teams often attend tournaments throughout the year, this is 100% voluntary.

What kind of skills do I need to be a part of the league?
The league consists of players with various skill levels – from highly skilled players to players who have never played softball.

If you are a novice, you will be placed in the recreational division (D Division) and skills will be taught throughout the season by your coaches. In addition, various clinics will be offered throughout the season to improve upon basic skills, rules and strategies.

More competitive players are placed in the competitive division (C Division), C Division players are able to take part in the clinics that are offered throughout the season.

How much does it cost to play?
The cost to play is subject to change and primarily depends on the cost for fields and umpires. Currently, the cost is $75 per person, per season. The money pays for the operating costs associated with the SCSL.

What equipment do I need?
You will need athletic attire. Spikes are recommended but you are allowed to play in sneakers. You cannot wear metal spikes. You will also need a softball glove. All other equipment is provided by the league.

What are my responsibilities aside from playing?
You can become as involved as you’d like. The league is run by volunteers and it is because of the volunteers that we are successful. You may volunteer for committees or you may also just play softball. You level of involvement is completely up to you.

What if I can’t commit to playing every game?
Part-time players are welcome. The cost remains the same. Another option is to become a social member, currently the cost is $20 per social member, per season. Social members support their teams and attend the banquet at the member’s cost.
