About SCSL
The Steel City Softball League began in 1981 and remains the longest running GLBT sports organizations in the Pittsburgh area. The league provides an atmosphere for individuals to be themselves without fear of discrimination and is open to all members and friends of the GLBT community of Pittsburgh.
The SCSL became part of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) which sponsors the Gay Softball World Series (GSWS). NAGAAA currently has 34 Open Division Leagues which make up the membership of NAGAAA in the United States and Canada. NAGAAA is who the SCSL looks to for rules, regulations, and opportunities to travel to other cities for tournaments. Pittsburgh hosted the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series in 1990.
Throughout the years many friendships have been formed and athletes have been created. The SCSL provides members of the community that love softball, athletics, and camaraderie a chance to build their skills, develop friendships, and grow as individuals.
